UN WOMEN

About the Committee:

This committee will focus on two topics: economic mobility for women and advocacy for women with disabilities. Our goal for delegates is that the first topic will allow them to understand women’s economic and social constraints in the context of their country’s policies and histories while making creative solutions to allow for social and economic growth. The second topic we will explore allows delegates to understand how each country can help make the world a more equitable place for women with disabilities, and the various aspects and avenues that can take place in. Economic opportunities, housing inclusion, and education are few examples that we hope delegates will dive deeper in to.

Topic A

Economic Mobility for Women

Topic B

Supporting women with disabilities

A LETTER FROM THE DaiS:

Hello Delegates!

Welcome to the United Nations Women Committee. My name is Emma Swailes and I’m a senior at the University of Michigan. I’m majoring in Biology, Health, and Society with a minor in Gender and Health. This Summer I am working as a CNA at a nursing home and studying for the MCAT. I’m so excited for this year's conference and looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hello everyone! My name is Emma Taylor. This year, I am a senior at U-M and I’m majoring in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. I am in the process of studying for the OAT and preparing to apply to Optometry school. In my free time, I like to hang out with my friends and my cat. I’m looking forward to this conference and meeting all of you!

This committee is a large GA committee with a lot of opportunity for collaboration and nuanced debate about ways to make the world a more equitable place! Each delegate will be representing a country that has a unique perspective on ways to expand advocacy for people with disabilities and economic mobility for women..

The whole dias is super excited to get this committee going and jump into some lively debate. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the dias with any questions or concerns. We will be available over email or phone, looking forward to the conference and see you all soon!
