MUNUM XXXVII TECHNOLOGY POLICY
Below is MUNUM’s technology policy. We believe that this policy will both allow for the conference to run smoothly, while also taking into consideration access to technological resources. Repeated violation of this policy may result in removal from the conference.
For all committees, delegates are allowed to conduct research outside of committee hours, including during designated breaks and outside of session times, but are strictly prohibited from engaging in research activities while the committee is in session, including during short breaks or by leaving the committee room without proper authorization. Delegates are strictly forbidden from writing resolutions or directives outside of committee.
Additionally, MUNUM has a strict no tolerance policy concerning plagiarism or pre-written resolutions and directives. Staff will be reviewing any suspected violations of these policies on a case-by-case basis. Any delegates found to be in violation of either of these policies may be subject to disqualification from awards or removal from the conference.
Small, handheld devices such as mobile phones are strictly prohibited from being utilized during committee at any time.
For General Assemblies, delegates will be permitted to use laptops or tablets with a keyboard (i.e. iPad, Microsoft Surface, etc.) to type up their drafts and submit them to the Dias. There will be a Google Drive folder that all delegates will have access to in order to submit working papers and to allow all delegates equitable access to any working paper. Staff will be monitoring to ensure that delegate use of electronic devices is during unmoderated caucuses ONLY and for writing purposes only.
For Specialized Committees, the degree to which technology is used within each committee is subject to Director discretion. Each individual committee policy can be found on the homepage for that committee on munum.org as well as in the background guide.
For Crisis Committees, we expect everything to be handwritten, as per custom. This means directives, crisis notes, and related documents will be handwritten to reflect the more fast-paced nature of the committee.
For the International Press Corps, delegates can expect to use technology throughout the conference. The extent and nature of this use will be determined by the Committee Directors. The International press Corps may be the exception to the use of mobile phones for the purpose of taking photos and interviews.
For more information on a committee specific technology policy, each committee will have their own technology policy specified within their background guide and located on the committee homepage. If you have any questions related to the conference technology policy, do not hesitate to contact us.
