MUNUM ALUMNI NETWORK 

MUNUM ALUMNI ASSOCIATION 101

First things first, why did we create an alumni association? We created this association to enrich the experience of both current and former staff members. Its purpose is to continue the personal and professional growth of MUNUM members — past and present — while aiding MUNUM’s commitment to being a resource for staff, delegations, and our community. 

We hope that MUNUM alumni will take the opportunity provided by this association to remain connected to the organization, increase our philanthropic impact, and aid current members' professional development. 

WHAT TO EXPECT

As a member of the alumni association, you can expect four emails a year from the organization: in September, December, right after conference, and April. We won't be spamming your inbox. These emails will provide you updates on MUNUM, its committees and staff, charity campaigns, and provide opportunities to remain engaged. 

Through the alumni email, you may see opportunities to donate to our partner charity, chances to contribute to our scholarship fund (more on that in a minute!), and opportunities to participate in professional development and conference programming. 

On rare occasions, you may see special emails soliciting participants for professional development events or chances to serve on a panel for conference programming events. We will not spam you with these, but your insights and volunteering provide a powerful resource for our current club members and delegates, and provide you the chance to remain involved!

SO... WHY IS THIS NECESSARY, AGAIN? 

Great question! Here are the three cornerstones of the alumni association that we had in mind:

COMMUNITY

MUNUM rightfully prides itself on its community. Our club is diverse, friendly, and driven, offering members an incredible opportunity to form lifelong friendships. However, once members graduate, they often lose touch with current members, fellow graduates, or both. An alumni network can offer a venue for those relationships to continue, either by direct action (i.e. virtual events, volunteer opportunities) or indirect action (a passive reminder about this club and its people).

FUNDRAISING

MUNUM’s immense platform is a resource for others. An alumni network offers our organization an additional way to raise money for our numerous causes. In fact, this financial base of support increases year-over-year, proving to be a more valuable asset over time. We can tap into this association to endow our new scholarship and further contribute to United World Schools.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 

Establishing an alumni association allows us to capitalize on our network of successful, driven individuals. We can ask alumni to participate in professional development meetings, offering insight on how MUNUM came up in interviews and applications, aided them professionally, and provide a venue for current staff to connect with former staff.

A FEW MORE THINGS...

Yes, if you really want to miss out on the chance to remain connected and involved in our organization, its people, and its causes, you may opt-out of being a member of the alumni association.
