Ad Hoc
About the Committee:
The Ad-Hoc committee is the prime opportunity for delegates to exemplify their quick thinking, adaptation, and creativity. Delegates will be introduced to the topic at the first committee session and will have a 15-minute reading period to acclimate themselves with the background guide at the beginning of the first session. From there, each delegate will need to put together a strategy to succeed with this quick turnaround. Although primarily recommended for more experienced delegates, everyone is welcome to test the waters of an ad-hoc committee. As different crises emerge, alliances are formed and dissolved, and all delegates continue to try to resolve the main issues at hand, delegates will have an exciting experience working in the Ad-Hoc committee. Given that delegates do not have access to the background guide prior to the start of the conference, position papers are not expected. All delegates in Ad-Hoc will be eligible for an award.
A LETTER FROM THE DaiS:
Ciao delegates! My name is Markus, and I have the honor to be one of your co-directors for the [REDACTED] Committee. I’m so excited to meet all of you, and to debate the topic of [REDACTED]! While this is my second year working on the MUNUM staff and my first year directing, I also attended MUNUM four times as a delegate. I’m sure our debate over [REDACTED] will surely be thrilling to watch, and I can’t wait to see the creative solutions you come up with. Beyond MUNUM, I am a sophomore double-majoring in Political Science and Economics, with a minor in German. I’m involved in LSA Student Government, the Phi Delta Phi Pre-Law Honor Society, and intramural volleyball! I can’t wait for you all to come to Ann Arbor for MUNUM XXXVIII, and please feel free to reach out with any questions you have prior to the committee.
Bonjour! My name is Rhea, and I have the honor of being your other co-director for the [REDACTED] committee this year! In the past, I’ve attended MUNUM three times as a delegate myself, with this being my second year working on the MUNUM staff, and my first time directing! I’m incredibly excited for the committee this year, and am so thrilled to be able to delve into an incredibly dynamic and entertaining conference weekend. Outside of MUNUM, I am a sophomore pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Industrial and Operations Engineering, with a potential minor in Business. I am also a part of a consulting club here on campus, as well as researching with a Digital Humanities lab! MUNUM holds a special place in my heart, and I am so excited to see you all in January. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns, MUNUM related or not!
Please regularly check back on this page and on the MUNUM instagram (@munum1987)! Rhea and Markus will be hard at work dropping hints about the theme for our [REDACTED] committee (Though we don’t recommend that you take any of these hints too seriously)!
Dag,
The Staff of [REDACTED] Committee
